Creating your
page(s)
WebPages are created (written) in a programming language named HTML
(HTML stands for Hyper Text Markup Language). Hyper Text is text in
which there are links or hotspots which take you to another
document, or another place in the current document.
Most users will never have the need to learn HTML in the creation
and maintenance of their personal web pages. They may use HTML
editors which provide a user friendly front end to HTML code. They
provide many drag and drop functions. They enable the user to create
frames, tables, image maps, and many other functions of professional
web pages without the user needing to spend hours experimenting with
reference books. Tracking down an HTML editor shouldn't be hard. I
would suggest taking the following steps.
At this point you are free to search and find one that looks
appealing to you. (If you choose to use Microsoft FrontPage
2000, SCR supports the FrontPage extensions.) Download it,
install it, run it, play with it. You are now on the way to creating
your page. If you get stuck for ideas you might want to use http://www.yahoo.com
and try searching for "HTML help" There is a ton of it
available on the web. I guess this would have to be due to the fact
that the entire web is HTML. There are many sites that offer
backgrounds, icons, images, etc for the taking. Make sure the site
does not ask you to not take before you do though.

Publishing Your Page(s)
Once you have completed designing your HTML page(s) you need
to place them on the SCR Online web-server. The first step to take in
doing this is click here and
fill out our FTP directory request which sends an e-mail to webmaster@scronline.com
requesting that he create an FTP directory for you. Within 48 hours you
will receive an email response indicating you have been
given an FTP directory and password. You will then be able to place your
pages on the server via. anonymous FTP. FTP is an internet standard
for transferring files. It existed long before HTML, and will
probably be around forever with slight modifications every now and
again. You will probably want to get a good FTP client. This can be
found in much the same manner that we located the HTML editor. Start
up your browser, open Yahoo search for "FTP clients." OR
Click on the Image Below or goto: http://winfiles.cnet.com/apps/98/netapps.html
Once you have the client, and your pages ready. Connect to the
internet, and use your FTP client to transfer the files into your
FTP directory (assigned by webmaster@scronline.com) That's all there
is to it. Your pages can then be accessed via. the internet in the
following location:
http://users.scronline.com/yourdirectory User's
Pages Link Once you have completed all of
the above steps, you may want your site to appear on our User's
Pages Links. Click here
and fill out the form and you should see your link appear on our
User's Pages within 48 hours.
